Flashing. Flashing with holes. Flashing missing. Flashing incorrectly installed.
What is flashing? Flashing is formed sheet metal strategically placed to divert water away from water-sensitive areas, like where the roof lines meet vertical walls or over windows and doors.
Flashing problems mean water damage. Damage that often may not show its true depth for years. It is not uncommon for Atlanta Property Matters to make expensive repairs to rotten siding, trim and/or studs that have been degrading since the house was built years prior because the builder left off a piece of 25-cent kick-out flashing. Installing or replacing flashing is typically inexpensive, but fixing the water damage usually is not.
