Deck tune-ups have been popular, and there can be several things that need to be addressed.
- Our rule of thumb for nail pops: If it’s high enough to pull, we replace it with a deck screw. If it’s too low to pull out, we’ll use a punch and hammer to drive it in.
- If individual deck boards aren’t in good shape then they get replaced with new ones.
- It’s not uncommon for there to be a sagging gate or loose stair treads as well. We can tighten loose stair treads and hand rails and adjust or rebuild gates, if needed.
- We also look at the deck structure from underneath to make sure it’s safe, and if it isn’t, present any recommendations to the customer.
At Atlanta Property Matters, most deck issues can be repaired far less expensively than rebuilding.
