Earlier this week, I had a customer who purchased a new mailbox to be installed. The old mailbox was one of those lovely builder grade boxes that had been bricked into place. Even her handy husband had no idea how to tackle a project like this.
Atlanta Property Matters to the rescue!
I cut out the old steel mailbox, enlarged the opening to accommodate a new larger steel mailbox, taking care not to damage any of the visible brick work. I then installed the new box in the old hole, sealed it with clear silicone caulk and, as an added touch, I dabbed some of the ground up mortar on to the caulk to match the brick mortar joints. It took an extra 10 minutes to do, but I thought it would look more visually appealing.
